The U.S. Army Research Laboratory Computational and Information Sciences Directorate conducts research in a variety of disciplines relevant to achieving and implementing future generation digital battlefield. To support our research, our facilities include the two of the fastest computer in the world, more than a dozen high performance computers and access to several emerging computer technologies in the industry.

Parsons employees collaborate with the Army Research Laboratory and their academic and industry partners to create the next generation computational innovations. We are seeking highly motivated, self-starting individual for the support and administration of high performance computing architectures.


  • Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of production, and research systems on the unclassified and classified networks. Duties include updating to new systems, re-configuring existing systems for new missions as well as support on current systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical system and application patches.

  • Provide on-site daily operations support for current and future systems, backups and user account management on the unclassified and classified networks. Install and maintain software environment (COTS and/or custom software).

  • Perform infrastructure (security, software, and storage) installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Recommend and participate in the discussions for technology upgrade/changes, and the required software and hardware requirements, advantages and impacts on the organization.


  • HS diploma and 5+ years experience

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher

  • IAT Level II baseline certification (Security+, CISSP)

  • OS Certification must have within 3 months of Start Date (MCSE, Linux+, etc.)

  • US Citizenship and US residency

  • Ability to obtain Top Secret SSBI.

Preferred/Desired Skills with at least FIVE of the following:

  • BS degree and typically 2+ years of related professional experience.

  • Experience with Windows Active Directory - Managing Group Policy, Managing Windows DNS, and Managing Windows DHCP

  • Experience with McAfee HBSS, installing modules, removing modules, developing policies, and policy enforcement.

  • Experience with scanning systems using ACAS, determining remediation requirements and follow-up with system owners.

  • Experience with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, SLES, CentOS) Experience with automation tools such as Puppet or Kickstart.

  • Experience reading and implementing STIG requirements on Windows and/or Linux systems as well as peripheral systems (Printers, COTS Applications)

  • Experience with iSCSI SANs, configuring LUNs, snapshots, and providing access to hosts.

  • Experience with VMware ESXi host, clusters, managing virtual machines, and configuration.

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Nagios and the supporting databases (Microsoft SQL, MariaDB)

  • Experience provisioning and managing user accounts and permissions across a variety of software applications and systems.

  • Ability to modify or create scripts Bash or Powershell.

  • Ability to multi-task work as part of a dedicated team.

  • Excellent technical, communication (written & oral) and time management skills.

  • Good verbal and written skills.

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
