POSITION OVERVIEW :
Responsible for supervising Maintenance Technicians at the Department of Energy Salt Waste Processing Facility.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Support the safe startup, commissioning and operation of SWPF through the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
Assist with the development of work packages which may include Work Orders, Material Requests, Drawings and OM manuals.
Participate in hazard analyses as requested by the work planning organization.
Ensure assigned technicians perform work in accordance with requirements of the technical work documents.
Ensure work status, work history and labor charges are routinely captured in the CMMS.
Ensure follow on service requests are generated as a result of corrective or preventive maintenance activities.
Work with Maintenance Engineers and Cognizant System Engineers to identify spare parts and tools required to support the mission of SWPF.
Routinely observe field work to reinforce high standards of safety, workmanship, housekeeping and procedure compliance.
Coordinate with the work window specialists to ensure resources are available to support scheduled work activities.
Ensure assigned technicians have the appropriate training and proficiency required when making job assignments.
Continuously assess technician skills to identify training needs, ensure job competency and continuous improvement.
4-year degree in Business Administration (or equivalent) and at least 10-12 years of related experience in facility management.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Strong written and oral communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills are required. Ability to work in teams. Ability to follow through. Ability to clearly deliver work instructions.
High-level understanding and appreciation of Project Management and Facilities Management.
Space planning and forecasting skills.
Excellent business judgment.
Ability to work in a matrix organization (dual reporting). Ability to interact with an influence senior-level management. Ability to consult, motivate, and negotiate effectively with client groups, co-workers, employees, vendors, and contractors.
Excellent organization and follow through abilities.
Strong knowledge of codes and regulations covering facility maintenance and workers’ safety.
Must function effectively under time constraints, schedule workload to meet deadlines, and have the ability to prioritize.
