Parsons is now hiring a Principal Structural Engineer with a desire to work on infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our community. We need our Principal Engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will plan and design structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, tunnels, power plants and other projects. The successful candidate analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Performs a variety of engineering duties and may identify as sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering such as: geotechnical, municipal/urban, water resources, materials and/or coastal engineering. Responsible for the development of engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys and designs. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
The responsibilities include all tasks related to the preparation of structural engineering deliverables including design, design review, independent checking and assessment of structures. The types of structures involved include transportation-related structures (such as bridges, tunnels, culverts, retaining walls, etc.), infrastructure-related structures (such as pump stations, substations, utility manholes and chambers, etc.), and buildings.
May function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing sup plier manufacturing capabilities.
Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations.
Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
Recommends and prepares technical papers.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
Qatar Professional Engineer registration (MMUP Registration) is mandatory, and other internationally recognized engineering registrations are highly desired.
Intimately familiar with EN and BS bridge/structural design in general and AASHTO seismic bridge design.
Intimately familiar with Qatar local design requirements and practices including Ashghal standards, Ashghal Interim Advise Notes, and Qatar Construction Specifications.
Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required. In particular, the candidate is highly desired to be proficient in the use of Midas Civil, CSi Bridge, SAP2000, and Structural Bridge Design (by AutoDesk) software. Familiarity with ETAB and Revit software is preferred.
The candidate must be highly driven, goal-oriented individual with strong sense of responsibility, ownership and leadership. It is mandatory that the candidate is well versed in client relations, and possesses excellent communication skills with both internal and external parties. Very good command of spoken and written English language is mandatory. The candidate is expected to be highly proficient in technical writing skills in English language.
Potential to perform in a lead capacity, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required
Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project
