Project Manager - Infrastructure and Roads Design
Location: Qatar
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager with a strong Design background in infrastructure and roads to join our team in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in design management, particularly within the Qatar region. This role is focused on design management and does not involve construction experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Developing Project Plans and Timelines:
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Create detailed work breakdown structures to map out all necessary tasks.
Establish realistic timelines and milestones for each project phase.
Identify dependencies between tasks and build in appropriate scheduling buffers.
Regularly review and update the project plan as conditions change.
Coordinating with Cross-Functional Teams:
Facilitate regular meetings and communications between teams and stakeholders.
Ensure clear assignment of roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
Mediate any conflicts or issues that arise between team members.
Align various functional teams towards common project goals.
Managing Budgets and Procurement:
Develop comprehensive project budgets factoring in all anticipated costs.
Track expenditures against the budget and identify cost variances.
Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors/suppliers.
Optimize procurement strategies to balance cost, quality, and delivery times.
Ensuring Quality/Safety Compliance:
Stay up-to-date on all relevant building codes, environmental regulations, etc.
Incorporate compliance requirements into project planning and design.
Implement robust safety protocols and procedures for design activities.
Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and sign-offs at each project milestone.
Monitoring Progress and Making Adjustments:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project health.
Regularly review schedule, budget, quality, and risk data.
Identify and address any issues or roadblocks in a timely manner.
Evaluate the need for scope, timeline, or budget changes and adjust accordingly.
Communicating with Stakeholders:
Provide comprehensive status reports to project sponsors and executives.
Engage with end-users, community groups, and other affected parties.
Manage public relations and address any concerns or questions.
Document decisions, changes, and lessons learned for future reference.
Reviewing Contracts and Facilitating Delivery of Requirements:
Thoroughly review contracts to fully understand all obligations and requirements.
Develop a comprehensive plan to ensure timely delivery of all contract deliverables.
Coordinate closely with legal and procurement teams to address any contractual issues or changes.
Coordinating with Project Control Team for Payment and Collections:
Work collaboratively with project control and finance teams to manage the payment process.
Monitor project budgets and cash flow, identifying any issues or variances.
Facilitate the timely collection of payments from clients to maintain project cash flow.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Certified PMP/PE/CENG is preferred.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in design management of large infrastructure projects, with knowledge of codes, design manuals, and construction practices.
At least 5 years of experience in Qatar/GCC region.
Ability to interpret complex contract documents including plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
Proven ability to make decisions and recommendations on significant engineering problems, and review drawings, specifications, and installations for constructability.
Demonstrated previous project management experience.
Advanced negotiation and presentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions.
Strong team-building, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Ability to build rapport with colleagues.
Must have MME/MMUP/UPDA certification.
Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
