Job Description:

As we move forward with 2023, Saudi Arabia Parsons Ltd (SAPL) is experiencing very positive times at the Yanbu City Program on the West (Red Sea) Coast of KSA.

2023 will be the most productive year in the 46 years history of this Program, with the budgets secured to develop and grow the Team to meet the demands!

A key hire for us will be a Principal Structural Engineer to join the Engineering and Design Department.


This level of Engineer is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of current engineering theories and practices. May serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client. Many assignments involve Computer Aided Engineering / CAD applications.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform structural engineering Design Reviews of Consultants Submittals to meet the overall city development program requirements and standards. Bridges and Civils Structures focused

  • Coordinate structural engineering activities with those of other disciplines and project management team within the Engineering Department; and, also Royal Commission Departments as and where necessary.

  • Provide technical advice to other sections within the MSC and the Royal Commission as a whole.

  • Prepare and Review technical specifications, conceptual schemes and scope of work descriptions. Bridges and Civils Structures focused

  • Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) documents with design concepts.

  • Provide technical assistance during pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, and post-award or other contract conferences and value engineering.

  • Review A/E contractor design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals; and, coordinate the same with the work of other disciplines. Bridges and Civils Structures focused

  • Review vendor and shop drawings, and construction materials.

  • Perform field inspections and provide professional field support and construction trouble shooting as necessary during construction phases.

  • Perform forensic support work and offer cost effective optimal remedial solutions.

  • Set out detailed terms for and follow up approval of special (investigative) studies, optimal cost based engineering solutions and geotechnical investigative work and reports.

  • Review and adaption of geotechnical studies and reports vis-à-vis their correct interpretation and usage as design basis.

  • Assist in setting out Quality Control (QC) terms related to structural engineering construction materials and their correct usage.

  • Prepare interface layouts and provide solutions for conflicts.

  • Prepare man-hours estimates and material take-offs.

  • Prepare quality and presentation conscious technical correspondence, reports, and studies.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from a Western Recognized University.

  • 12 years minimum of post-graduate multidisciplinary professional experience.

  • Hands on experience in engineering, design and construction of Bridge and Heavy Civils Structures which have included applications of reinforced concrete, masonry and precast concrete construction and steel structures - as these apply to Bridges, Power Plants. Sewage Treatment Plant, Desalination Plants.

  • US registration as a Professional Engineer or Chartered Member of I.Struct.E(UK) or ICE(UK) is required.

  • Post-graduate qualification in Bridge Engineering is a definite plus.

  • Ability of and presentation conscious grasp in effective communication with respect to spoken and written English is essential.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Will be fully conversant with IBC (UBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Codes and Steel Construction Manual of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), AASHTO Standards for Bridges Design.

  • In depth exposure to and usage experience of structural engineering analysis and design software’s of repute.

  • Experience in usage of structural engineering drawings application software is a definite plus.
