Parsons Corporation Principal Marine Environment Specialist in Al-Sinaiyah, Saudi Arabia

Job Description:

Based on the West Coast of KSA and as part of our Program at Yanbu, Parsons is looking to hire a dedicated and focused Principal Marine Environment Specialist to join our team! In this role you will get to conduct assessment and provide technical service supporting coastal ecological protection and improvement .

We are seeking Western Trained / Western Educated Applicants for this role.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Envision and design a Marine Habitat Program with a wide mandate to enhance coastal and marine habitats and establish a Conservation Zone.

  • Participate in near-shore and offshore marine surveys for marine biological, chemical and physical studies supporting technical report preparation.

  • Review and integrate current and emerging best approaches, practices, and techniques.

  • Develop and maintain an updated list of coastal and marine habitats of current or potential need of enhancement following an evidence-based approach.

  • Develop, review, and periodically update habitat-specific restoration/rehabilitation action plans, based on internationally recognized best practices and guidelines.

  • Implement targeted activities/projects to effectively restore and enhance coastal and marine habitats.

  • Incorporate the human-dimension in the program through, mainstreaming the awareness, education, stakeholder engagement and visitor experience provisions.

  • Undertake marine spatial planning to identify potential suitable sites for enhancement and development.

  • Contribute to designing in-field surveys and monitoring programs to evaluate the effectiveness of projects and measures undertaken for marine enhancement.

  • Work closely with relevant and competent authorities in KSA to ensure full alignment with the environmental, wildlife, cultural and economic policies, and programs.

  • Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies to ensure compliance.

  • Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and develop technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.

Any Applicants must posses the following credenitals / qualifications / experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Environmental Science, or related obtained at a recognized WESTERN UNIVERSITY

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience working within the marine ecology sector.

  • Knowledge of US-EPA, EU or KSA regulations and standards for safety and environment.

  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills with the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Demonstrable experience working with regulators or in a regulatory setting.

  • Demonstrable experience working with regulators or in a regulatory setting.

  • Diving experience inshore and offshore.

  • Excellent computer skills are essential with experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

  • Marine pollution modeling expertise is a value-added skill.

  • GIS data management and analysis

  • Ability to work to deadlines.

  • Proficient at problem solving.

  • Competent at identifying and resolving errors and inconsistencies when they arise.
