SGSS is currently looking for an experienced full-time DevOps engineer to join the VMOC team preferably in the Alexandria, VA, location. However, we will also consider candidates willing to work from our Melbourne, FL, or Colorado Springs, CO, locations as well. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Job Responsibilities
Automate configuration, monitoring, and hardening of development and production systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments
Complete research on new technologies or methodologies for the purpose of implementing complex workflows
Develop tooling that streamlines internal development and QA experiences
Assist in day-to-day system administration tasks to keep infrastructure running smoothly
Communicate effectively with customers, management, and other developers to aid and provide guidance in designing new features as well as determining defect fixes
Ability to work in an Agile environment
Required Qualifications
Must have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret or Top-Secret security clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering Field; or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Not less than two (2) years previous related professional experience
Defining, building, and modifying container images such as Docker or Podman
Defining and deploying Kubernetes primitives such as Pods, Services, and Deployments
Deploying and troubleshooting containerized applications to CNCF Kubernetes platforms such as Kubernetes, Rancher or OKD/OpenShift
Usage of Helm package manager and working with Helm charts
Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP
Proven experience embedded with a project team to integrate DevOps and/or DevSecOps deployments to meet projectrequirements
ModernCI/CD concepts and tools such as pipelines, GitOps, GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD,etc
Experienceon a containerized, cloud-native, cloud modernization, or cloud migration application development team or project
Strong understanding of Microservice application concepts, architecture, and deployments
Relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle DB)
Preferred Qualifications
CNCF CKAD or CKA certification
AWS or GCP certification
Java/Java EE application deployment/development
Spring/Spring Boot application deployment /development
Application server development on JBoss Wildfly server
GUI development
Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket etc).
Unix based operating systems
Cloud software development and concepts
Web security technologies and best practices (e.g. PKI, OpenId)
Satellite Systems, Satellite Operations, and/or Aerospace Engineering concepts
