DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Technician will report to assigned project managers; applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
Maintains, repairs, installs and tests various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, and navigational aids); personal and mainframe computers and terminals; industrial, measuring, and controlling equipment; and satellite equipment. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.
Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher level technician, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience or education in electronics; minimum three years experience or equivalent in education and/or military technical training. Field work and experience in Bush Alaska, all seasons, is preferred.
Basic computer skills, including, but not limited to, MS Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must have experience applying/relaying spec and drawing information to the construction/installation environment.
Must have experience working with engineers, stakeholders, fabricators, utility companies, cable locators, etc.
Must be able to express technical information in a clear and concise manner to a nontechnical audience.
Must have experience taking photographs using a digital camera in addition to uploading files/photographs to a computer/memory device or internet site.
Must have experience/ability following guidelines, regulations, standards, directives, etc.
Good organizational, speaking and writing skills.
Demonstrate motivation /initiative necessary to learn new concepts, adapt to new situations, show good judgement, work independently or as part of a team in the field or an office, and additionally be able to communicate with representatives at all levels within client and contractor environments.
Special Job Requirements:
Requires 100% travel throughout Alaska and the rest of the United States.
Tower climbing; work in remote locations and bush villages; travel in small aircraft or helicopters. Overtime is typically required during field work.
Position may require night and shift hours, and occasional overtime when pre-approved.
Requires valid driver’s license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record check.
Must pass company administered pre-employment drug testing.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
May require ability to pass a satisfactory DOT medical examination.
T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Parsons is currently in need for a Electronics Technician to work a series of projects in the Alaskan Region.
