Job Description:

The LOGCOP (Logistics Common Operating Picture) Data Engineer will provide technical expertise and support to the Joint Staff Chief Data Officer (CDO). The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and systems that ensure efficient and accurate data collection, integration, and analysis for the LOGCOP initiative. This position requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, proficiency in various programming and data management tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources for Data Pipeline Development.

  • Ensure data pipelines are optimized for performance and reliability, addressing any potential bottlenecks or failure points

  • Develop and maintain databases and data warehouses that support the LOGCOP initiative, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.

  • Perform regular database tuning, indexing, and optimization to maintain high performance and efficiency.

  • Integrate data from disparate sources, including legacy systems, third-party APIs, and real-time data streams, into a unified and accessible data environment.

  • Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to cleanse, transform, and load data into target systems.

  • Establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all systems.

  • Collaborate with the Joint Staff CDO to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.

  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and support the development of analytical models and reports.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations that provide actionable insights for decision-makers.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and other data professionals, to ensure alignment of data engineering efforts with organizational goals.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or a related field.

  • Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, Java, or Scala.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with database design and optimization.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing solutions (e.g., Panoply, Redshift).

  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., macOS, Windows, Linux, UNIX).

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Security Clearance

  • Must have active TS and eligible SCI at the time of hire and before onboarding

Salary Range:

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
