Parsons Corporation Mechanical Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

Parsons is now hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of projects.

Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your advanced Mechanical Engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance. We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will ensure consistency with applicable codes and customer quality requirements in an environment geared for industrial ventilation, airborne contamination control or exhaust filtration systems; provide cooling and heating load calculations as well as air and water distribution system pressure drop calculations; and review vendor and subcontractor submittals as well as select HVAC equipment.


Develop and/or review planning documents; Conduct building code compliance evaluations; Perform peer review of plans, specification, and technical reports prepared by others; Develop design concepts and detailed designs; Coordinate with architectural, civil/structural and electrical disciplines; Provide support in project design, bid and construction phases; Develop project schedules; Conduct cost-benefit analysis; Develop design life cycle cost estimates; Serve as project/team lead; Develop scopes of work; Provide contract administration support; Conduct technical studies; Develop project schedules; Conduct feasibility studies; Lead the production of design and technical information; Work and maintain agreed technical and design standards; Attend meetings at various State Department Annex facilities upon request.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design (experience may include HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, ventilation systems)

  • EIT Certificate Required

  • Proficient with AutoCAD

  • Extensive overseas travel

  • Must meet DoS physical requirements as a prerequisite to be considered for the position

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Performance will be primarily on-site in Rosslyn, VA



  • Professional Engineer License

  • Experience in mechanical design/engineering of facilities and related mechanical systems

  • Revit experience

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
