Parsons is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team! The successful candidate will have the ability to translate technical content to end users and stakeholders in a way that is easy to understand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop technical documentation which describes and explains the design, functionality, and testing of proprietary system engineering products.
Through research of existing documents (Scope of Work, Use Cases, and Industry Papers) and interviews with project personnel (developers and SMEs), describes technical and functional requirements used for development and testing.
Organizes information into functional categories and reviews with project personnel to confirm that documentation accurately reflects requirements.
Reviews design documentation to ensure that it can be readily understood by audiences of varying technical levels.
Documents test plans and test procedures, identifies any discrepancies, and collaborates with project staff for resolution.
Through first-hand use of software products, develops user documentation that supports the customer's intended use.
Researches and documents details and use cases through interviews with project staff, customers, and end-users, ensuring documentation aligns with software product functionality.
Conducts market studies to obtain data to support engineering critiques, evaluation, and decision making.
Conducts trade studies to research specific items (e.g., hardware) for the purpose of creating an organized body of data to use for future decision making.
Develops storyboards, outlines, and content for technical proposals; assists with developing applicable and compelling resumes; prepares compliance matrices; performs compliance checks; and creates and refine graphics for proposals. This includes defining requirements, research and analysis, organizing and compiling results, and developing the graphics.
Oversees the production and delivery process. In collaboration with project staff, determines required documentation set for product delivery. Coordinates recommends resources to complete required documentation. Reviews final documentation to ensure project conventions are followed consistently and customer, corporate, and project documentation requirements are met. Organizes and packages required documentation for delivery.
Top Secret security clearance
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, English/Journalism, or related field and typically 10+ years of demonstrated technical documentation experience is required.
Ability to work independently as part of a technical team to develop technical product documents as required by the contract.
Must be able to understand the technical requirements and use, the specific vendor technology and engage the expertise of SMEs to create contract required documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office software for production of documents.
Accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and clarity in conformance with required formats and standards.
Ability to perform in a lead capacity.
Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
