Manages Building Information Modelling (BIM) activities and broader digital strategy at project level and across a program of building projects over the whole project lifecycle. The BIM Manager is responsible to manage the effective implementation of the Employer's Information Requirements (EIR) by third party consultants and contractors in order to assure projects meet the Client's goals and objectives. Plans and defines BIM goals and strategy, and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Typical construction projects range up to $250 million.
Bachelor's Degree in BIM, Architecture or Building Engineering discipline, have a minimum of 15 years' overall experience in the construction sector, 10 years working in building digital environment, and with at least 3 years' experience in a similar BIM management role
Membership of a relevant technical institute such as RIBA preferred, and be RICS BIM Manager certified or similar
10+ years of related experience on large scale projects that include complex, high quality buildings in retail, residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. Experience of tall tower is desirable.
Should have a broad general technical and project management background.
Proven ability to perform in a team environment and management capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.
Must have high level of proficiency in the use of collaboration tools such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360, and fully conversant with BS 19650 and other similar international standards. Able to guide consultants and contractors in the use of BIM in 3D, 4D, 5D and 6D applications. Be experienced in the establishment and maintenance of common data environment in conjunction with other members of the project management team.
Review BIM standards and EIR and provide recommendations for areas of improvement.
Leads the development of BIM standards, policies and procedures, and EIR (supplementary and/or revised)
Apply a proactive approach to BIM management to address the application of BIM and EIR at the program and at project level.
Ensures continuity between projects with lessons learnt being shares across other projects.
In conjunction establishes the deliverables to be prepared by project consultants and contractors and supports delivery of.
Participate in regular and formal reviews of BIM and coordinate with other members of the project management team to ensure timely reporting and approval of stage deliverables.
Ensure that consultants and contractors for each project implements the EIR and associated BIM execution plans.
Responsible for scheduling and leading BIM events/review meetings and workshops, and coordinating and maintaining an up-to-date EIR, monitoring actions for completion and effectiveness as part of ongoing monitoring and control activities.
Coordinate and collaborate with project management, design management, commercial management and construction management teams to support cost, time, and construction sequencing activities.
Support project reporting including time and cost impact assessment.
