Ready to put your inspection skills to work with departments and teams that change the fabric of our community? Do you have a great attention to detail? Put your inspection expertise to work on complex projects. Parsons is now hiring a Senior Inspector for our rapidly expanding team.

We are looking for an experienced Building Construction Inspector , to join our amazing team in Atlanta to support Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. In this role, you will perform moderately complex quality control inspection activities to ensure that building projects are delivered in accordance with contract documents and customer requirements.

Working under the direction of a resident engineer, this inspector will provide for the coordination and control of all construction quality assurance activities and provide daily overall field coordination as owner’s representative for all the contractor’s work.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the field inspection effort by personally observing and enforcing compliance with the Terms and Conditions (plans and specifications) of a Construction Contract.

  • Monitor the progress of work by the contractor. Inform the supervisor or resident engineer daily as to the overall status of the project and any current or potential design or construction problems. Prepare a consolidated daily report based on input from daily reports prepared by assigned Inspectors.

  • Regularly review plans and specifications for constructability and conformance to project objectives.

  • Evaluation of contractor workforce and equipment used on the project to determine if they are sufficient to meet the contractor’s planned schedule.

  • Coordinate activities of contractors and inspectors. Schedule inspections and monitor reports for compliance with contract documents.

  • Coordinate and monitor the QA/QC plans for conformance with construction documents.

  • Coordinate site security, maintenance, and access plans for all contractors.

  • Verify contractor’s work-in-place and assist supervisor in evaluating contractor’s monthly payment applications and change order estimates.

  • Attend contractor’s weekly Progress Meeting.

  • Facilitate resolution of field problems and/or discrepancies in drawing dimensions, disputes between contractors, and coordination of testing personnel and contractor testing needs.

  • Coordinate installation and use of temporary utilities and facilities, traffic control, foreign object damage (FOD), trash containers, and storage areas.

  • Coordinate contractor activities and areas of work for the overall project.

  • Supervise and schedule work hours and duties of assigned Field Inspectors.

  • Coordinate with project Safety Coordinators and Area Safety Managers to minimize hazards while working on-site.

  • Safeguard and maintain the office equipment and vehicles

  • Monitor and ensure the correction of non-conforming work

  • Assist in the timely closeout of the construction contract

  • Other tasks may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or construction-related field, plus 6 years of relevant field construction inspection experience. Minimum – High school diploma, or G.E.D., and 10 years of field experience working in a construction environment that requires obtaining regulatory permits and passing municipal inspections.

  • Minimum - Safety Training (OSHA 30 Hour) Preferred – Certified Associate Construction Manager ® (CACM) or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Certificates or IBC

  • More than ten years of experience in field inspection of construction work, with the majority of time spent on commercial or municipal building construction. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand project Safety Plans, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Plans, and Project Procedures Manuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and adequately interpret engineering drawings for civil and architectural projects.

  • Working knowledge of the Construction Specifications Institute or other professional specification structure and implementation principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret a project schedule developed using the critical path method.

  • Previous experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a staff of two or more inspectors.

  • Experience with scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software (PMWeb, P6, and Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Experience with architectural finishes is desired.

Salary Range:

$29.42 - $59.33
