T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA's Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA's nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
The Engineering Technician in this role performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as: (a) Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions; (b) Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. (c) Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data; (d) Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation. (e) Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
Position is for an Engineering Technician IV on a full time basis, to provide self-perform construction support in various field environments supporting the Parsons/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) T4 Program Southern Region, based out of Atlanta, GA. Individual will receive guidance from a supervisor or higher level technician. Work will be spot-checked for accuracy. Work will be performed predominantly at FAA facilities. Work will require diverse roles for different projects ranging from construction laborer, iron worker installing concrete rebar to equipment operator of various machineries such as skidsteers, backhoes, tampers, etc.
The ideal candidate will have 2 plus years of commercial or military experience or a combination of experience and related training; have at least 2 years of experience working as a technician in the construction/installation field. Must have willingness to work in field as hands on technician assisting field crews with various construction and installation. Travel locations and work schedules will vary upon need. 100% travel will be required to project sites for completion of tasks. Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal authorities will be performed.
