Job Description:

Ready to tackle new construction challenges? Are you great with people and have a track record for inspecting and assessing work on major construction projects? Put your construction inspection expertise to work on construction projects at the world's busiest and most efficient airport. Parsons has an opening for an inspector with a desire to work on complex, structural construction projects at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

In this role you will support the Owner's construction management team by observing and documenting activities performed on site. We need our inspectors to be versatile, enthusiastic, willing to work in a team-oriented environment, and have a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

Conducting inspections to determine if construction work is being completed in accordance with the Contract drawings and specifications. This may include any of the following:

  • Working with a team of other Inspectors, Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Project Managers and Construction Managers.

  • Observing and enforcing compliance with the Terms and Conditions (plans and specifications) of a Construction Contract.

  • Coordinating the work of multiple contractors working on the same or adjacent construction sites.

  • Addressing the needs of the Owner and multiple stakeholders while advancing the progress of construction.

  • Preparing Inspector's Daily Reports (IDRs).

  • Taking, labeling and filing project photographs on a daily basis.

  • Coordinating quality assurance testing performed by the Owner's Testing Contractor.

  • Verifying progress payments.

  • Attending weekly progress, schedule and safety meetings.

  • Safeguarding and maintaining equipment (office and vehicular).

  • Identifying issues affecting the progress of construction and help to resolve these issues.

  • Monitoring and ensuring the correction of non-conforming work.

  • Assist in providing information that will be used in processing change orders, claims and revisions to the contract schedule and budget.

  • Assisting in the timely closeout of the construction contract.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of related work experience in the Inspection of structural or vertical construction work in the field. Previous experience as an inspector on a parking garage or post-tension structure project is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Safety Plans, and QA/QC Plans and Project Procedures Manual

  • Some knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheets, documents and database software (such as PMWeb, P6, Excel, Word, Access etc.) is a plus

  • NICET Certifications are a plus

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment. Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs. Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts. Proficiency with basic computer usage, Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent). Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have working understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work tickets. Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary. Ability to use good judgment and work with others is required. Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above ground, and work in confined spaces.
