Parsons is now hiring an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer with a desire to work on infrastructure projects. We need our Senior Engineers to be versatile and enthusiastic to work in a highly flexible, team oriented environment with exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.

In this role, you will perform and direct conventional and complex traffic engineering assignments, applying engineering judgement and performing analyses within road and highway projects. The Traffic Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional that can operate independently and is proficient in the utilization of a variety of traffic engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel/temporarily relocate to metro Atlanta project office is expected.


Performs complex traffic engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.

Independently develops and supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes independently defining the problem, establishing work scope, preparing a budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, completing complex tasks, and reporting work status.

Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares traffic engineering analyses, reports, and deliverables.

Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

Represents Parsons in communication with clients.

Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters and other Engineers working on the same project.

May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.

Maybe assigned to a project as the lead engineer for traffic, with responsibilities for preparing deliverables and completed QA/QC reviews.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience in road and highway projects

GDOT project experience is preferred. Some DOT project experience is required.

Professional Engineer registration is required

Proficiency in utilizing Microstation and other PC software packages typically associated with traffic engineering (such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and others) is required.

Working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with major types of technical analyses (including travel demand forecasting, preferably with tour/activity-based modeling) is preferred.

Familiarity with the MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM, traffic signal design and signal timing development tools.

Ability to prepare traffic impact studies; review and assess Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) plans; develop and assess design and/or operational alternatives; and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements.
