Our Parsons Atlanta office in the Peachtree Corners / Norcross area is now hiring for an experienced Traffic Engineer to support multiple Georgia DOT projects.
We are transforming roads and highways all over the country! We have been a leader in Integrated design and delivery of civil infrastructure for more than 75 years.
We have a great backlog of work, in both conventional and design/build and have worked on some of the largest, most complex projects in Georgia.
In this role, you will perform conventional and moderately complex traffic engineering assignments, applying judgement and performing analyses within road and highway projects.
Candidates should be proficient in standard traffic engineering theories and practices, including familiarity with the MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM, traffic signal design and signal timing development tools. Candidates will also need the ability to prepare traffic impact studies; develop and assess design and/or operational alternatives; and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements. Experience with GDOT design manuals and plan presentation is preferred.
Complete simulations and analyses using traffic engineering software (such as HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM).
Typical products may include detailed calculations, design drawings, procurement documents, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
Provides support for other engineering activities as required.
Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
Work with a team of engineers and technicians designing and producing a variety of traffic engineering projects.
Coordinate with other disciplines (i.e. drainage, traffic, structural) to produce deliverables
May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate size project.
Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters and other Engineers working on the same project.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) is required
5 years ore more of related hands-on traffic engineering experience in road and highway projects is required
GDOT experience is desirable
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is required
Professional Engineer (PE) Certification is desirable
Proficiency in utilizing MicroStation and other PC software packages typically associated with traffic engineering (such as HCS, Synchro,VISSIM , and others) is required
Working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with major types of technical analyses (including travel demand forecasting, preferably with tour/activity-based modeling)
