Installation/removal of data cables in Laboratories per instructions and/or drawings, troubleshoot and rectify malfunctions in existing or newly-installed cable, survey and document existing conditions regarding data cabling.
The Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment using fully applicable precedents and FAA and industry standards. The Engineering Technician III will report directly to the Regional Resource Administrator and Project Manager. The Engineering Technician III receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from PM or engineer as needed, and performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. This level of Technician performs one or a combination of these duties:
Should have basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet, should be able to learn new programs quickly. The ability to identify locations, pathways, cable and connector types, etc., document then extract, compile and process data.
A + would be - Manage raised access floor system (RAF), including tiles, stanchions, stringers, carpet, laminate, grommets, adhesive, air diffusers, etc., in laboratories. This includes: The removal, replacement and repair of components of the raised floor system, including but not limited to the tiles, stanchions, stringers, carpet, grommets, adhesive, air diffusers, etc. Monitoring inventory of raised floor system components and reporting needs as required, aiding in the design of construction projects with regard to the raised floor system, coordinating with Clients during construction to provide necessary components of raised floor system.
Technical certification from an accredited technical school plus 5+ years of relevant experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience.
Worked with pulling data cable i.e. RG types, COAX and Fiber in a raised floor within a Data Center or in a Ceiling Plenum. Experience working under safety and quality procedures and plans
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
