Job Description:
This position will be located in Burnaby, BC. As an EIT/ Junior Municipal Civil Engineer, you will be involved in various municipal infrastructure multi-disciplinary projects from conception through to completion. You will have many opportunities to learn and develop while working on engaging municipal projects. Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Engineer of Record, you will prepare civil engineering designs and perform site inspections for municipal infrastructure, ensuring the deliverables meet defined requirements. Experience working on municipal infrastructure design that includes roads, water, sanitary, and storm systems, drainage and grading is essential.
Responsibilities:
Works with a team and under the guidance and direct supervision of the Engineer of Record to develop engineering products that meet quality requirements, while meeting budgetary and timeline constraints.
Prepare designs of civil systems associated with municipal roads, water, sanitary, and storm systems, drainage and grading. This includes preparation of:
Design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D such as plans, profiles, cross-sections, surface design for water, storm, and sanitary piping, roadways, site grading, incorporating topographic surveys into the design and as-built surveys into record drawings.
Specifications and contract documents
Construction cost estimates
Technical memorandums and reports
Perform construction site inspections and prepare correspondent reports
Prepare proposals including work plans, cost estimates, and schedules using MS Project.
Requirements:
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer in Training (EIT) with EGBC. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum 1+ years of experience including AutoCAD Civil 3D work experience in a civil engineering design role in design of civil systems associated with municipal roads, water, sanitary, and storm systems, drainage and grading; 2-3 years experience is preferred. Proficiency in utilizing CAD Civil 3D is preferred.
Experience in civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, and design, construction inspection
Working knowledge of preparing contract documentation using MMCD and CCDC
Working knowledge of water / wastewater / conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment
Excellent writing skills for preparation of memorandums, technical reports and proposals
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to exercise diplomacy and tact
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, subconsultants, contractors and clients
Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Commitment to continuous learning and skills improvement, and eagerness to grow within your role
Valid BC Class V Driver's License

Salary Range:
$51,400 - $95,600
