Parsons is now hiring a Senior Highways Designer and CAD Customization Specialist for our rapidly expanding portfolio of BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure projects. Parsons extensive experience in this field combined with your design knowledge and technical skills will propel your career forward.
Project Designer. Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare difficult and complex layout and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge.
Works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated designs.
Meets layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.
Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
Performs checking as appropriate to the discipline and acting as a mentor to junior junior staff.
CAD Tools and Add-in Development. This would involve creating tools to improve productivity and efficiency of CAD techs. This would also involve creating tools to improve the productivity in working on specific projects or in working with client standards. This would also include creating custom Civil 3D sub-assemblies as required by projects.
CAD Support and Troubleshooting. This would involve helping other CAD users with technical issues related to CAD and troubleshooting issues within CAD. This would include the creation of practical work-arounds, and disseminating the information to the other CAD staff.
CAD Standards Implementation and Maintenance. This would involve creating a team from existing Parsons CAD users to bring together and maintain a unified Parsons design production drawing standard and best practices. Assists in training lower level Designers in various procedures.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Completed diploma, certificate, or technical degree from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent)
10+ years of relevant experience in complex multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software to complete design assignments.
Familiarity with TAC standards and BC MoTI standards.
