Job Description:

We are looking for a Systems Design Manager to oversee the full technical scope of major rail transportation infrastructure (Fully Automated Light Rail) projects in Vancouver, BC. Parsons is a proven designer-builder-developer that offers full vertical integration to our industry partners at all levels including project design and construction on major transit projects. We are respected by our clients as an organization with strong technical skills, and solid project delivery and performance.

What You'll Be Doing:

In this technically focused role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing managing design development from the concept stage through to start of service. The Design Manager will manage the full rail systems scope , including developing a detailed design schedule, and ensure the project has a successful start-up and sufficient staffing to achieve the targets. You will be expected to support the design process through the project, overseeing and directing technical resources, managing priorities, monitoring the technical aspects of the project, coordinating with contractors and owners, and performing design management functions through construction.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with P.Eng. license

  • 15+ years of design or project management experience in rail systems or similar industries

  • Must have a proven track record of successful delivery in major project executions as the Design Manager

  • Experience meeting operational business goals and strategizing on market development.

  • Considerable experience in client management, win strategies, and contract management

  • The incumbent should have a broad general technical and business background, as well as previous project management experience on similar or related projects.

  • Location: Vancouver, BC.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles per IEEE/ISO/IEC 15288-2023

  • Experience with GOA 4 rail transit systems

  • Experience managing staff in an dynamic environment and achieving challenging schedules and technical requirements

Salary Range:

$74,800 - $139,000
