Job Description:

Join us as we continue to grow our Alberta group to enrich and transform its cities, towns and neighborhoods. Parsons has been a leader in municipal design and delivery of civil infrastructure for more than 75 years. As we have continued to grow our services in Western Canada, we are looking for an experienced Senior Municipal Engineer to lead our municipal team in southern Alberta. We have a solid working relationship with municipalities with consistent municipal work in conventional project delivery and are looking for a strong leader with the ability to lead projects and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

In this role, you will be leading municipal engineering business development, project scoping, design, construction quality control, and budget performance to meet our clientele’s visions, goals and objectives. These projects involve the construction and rehabilitation of municipal road and utility infrastructures for southern rural and urban municipalities. As the municipal project manager for southern Alberta, you will plan and defines program goals and develops methods to accomplish them; embrace your clients’ objectives with Parsons’ vision.

You will be integral to helping execute existing work and developing new projects by assuring on schedule completion, within or below, budget and in accordance with our contractual obligations. In addition to supervising Parsons’ staff, you will build on our professional relationships with key subcontractors during the program execution. You will assign responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths. Your knowledge of the client’s goals and objectives will be instrumental in discussing any changes to the scope of work or new projects, contracts with key subcontractors, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Keys to your success will be your knowledge of design and construction, ability to monitor our deliverables for adherence to client criteria as well as help execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of this very important program.

You are required to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/business field.

  • Current registration with a Canadian engineer or technologist association with the credential to successfully receive affiliation with APEGA or ASET.

  • 10+ years of related municipal design and construction management experience.

  • Proven experience in leading design and construction teams.

  • Solid knowledge of engineering standards, policies, and manuals.

  • Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

  • Excellent written and oral communications.
