Completes a wide variety of engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of engineeringtheories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected.


·Prepares detailed calculations/technical analyses, study reports, specifications, datasheets.

·Develops, integrates and documents complex or unique mechanical requirements to establish the system design.

·Supports the preparation of the Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs) and Lists/Summaries

·Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical bid Evaluations in support of equipment/component procurement

·Proficient in the use of Finite Element Analysis tools, 3-D software (Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, Creo (Pro-E) for structural design and analysis.

·Knowledge of Materials of Construction, Sizing of Static and Rotating Equipment.

·Ability to interface with sister disciplines: Electrical, Controls and instrumentation and Structural.

·Active participation in 3-D Model Review.

·Provides technical guidance to CAD Designers, 3-D Modelers and junior engineers. Leads periodic design review.

·Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. Guides product design and verifies mechanical integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the mechanical environment, characteristics and performance of the product.

·Performs constructability and maintainability reviews. Participates in value engineering and scope and budget reconciliation when required or requested

·Collaborates with the client to define certification processes that will ensure project requirements are met.

·Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the design effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.


·Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline with a minimum of15 years of related experience

·Professional Engineering License is strongly preferred.

·Strong ability to work system tasks, and adept at communicating with multiple interfaces.

·Proven ability to work in a team environment.

·Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills


·Solid knowledge base in any of the specialized fields: cryogenics, fluids and gases; plumbing, HVAC, machinery, fire protection, and utilities, piping/tubing including double wall pipes; pipe stress analysis.

·Experience with NASA or similar projects a plus.

·Experience with 3-D design is required.
