Safety, Health and Environment Director
Parsons is looking to hire a safety, health, and environmental (SHE) Director with experience supporting space programs to support a major infrastructure project near Cape Canaveral, Florida.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides senior professional oversight, technical guidance, training, and support to the project’s leadership team. Leads the project’s SHE staff, oversees the project’s SHE programs, and supports SHE audits and the implementation of project SHE initiatives. Collaborates with senior project leadership in meeting established Parsons and the client’s system safety, occupational safety and health, and environmental risk management goals and objectives. Receives assignments in terms of broad objectives from project and corporate leadership.
•Develops, communicates, and oversees the project Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk Program for the project
•Provides assistance to project leadership regarding system safety requirements, hazard and risk analyses, SHE regulations, reporting requirements, training, and other related issues.
•Monitors the effectiveness of the project system safety, occupational safety and health, and environmental programs, conducts investigations, and complies with internal reporting and recordkeeping requirements and workers compensation claim procedures.
•Collects and maintains system safety and SHE information and statistics
•Keeps senior project management informed of significant internal and external developments regarding SHE
•Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as many be appropriate.
•ABET-accredited bachelor of science degree in engineering
•Total engineering and management experience of at least 10 years
•Demonstrated military or civilian system safety leadership experience of at least 5 years
•Demonstrated technical personnel supervisory experience of at least 3 years
•Demonstrated experience leading formal hazard analysis methods, such as Preliminary Hazard Assessment, HAZOP, FMEA, and What-if/Checklist
Highly Preferred Credentials:
•Master degree in engineering, safety, or environmental
•Current license in Florida as a professional engineer (PE)
•Current certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Highly Preferred Additional Experience:
•Demonstrated occupational safety and health program management experience
•Demonstrated field construction safety experience
•Demonstrated experience participating in, or leading, constructability, maintainability, and operability reviews
•Demonstrated environmental management experience
•Demonstrated experience working under ANSI Z590.3 (Prevention through Design)
•Demonstrated experience leading an organization toward achieving formal OSHA VPP STAR recognition
