The BIM Coordinator is a member of the Business Unit (BU) BIM team, led by the BIM Director. The BIM team is responsible for managing Corporate BIM activities, growing the BU BIM capabilities, and educating the BU on BIM practices.
The BIM Coordinator assists the BU BIM team in developing Project BIM Template set-ups, such as: setting up projects from scratch with company BIM standards, establishing guidelines, breaking-up models and distribution based on design and construction team needs, geographical location and collaboration requirements; assisting the BIM project teams, including the Project Manager in understanding the significance of BIM kick-off meetings; monitoring BIM projects, ensuring that projects have an established BIM Execution Plan that is understood and followed.
Familiarity with Revit, Infraworks, and Civil 3D is preferred Additional familiarity with SQL and relational databases is desired. Communicating with the BIM Director, establishes training material and conducts software training with the current or prospective BIM Applications Specialists team to grow skills and project teams.
Develops BIM Presentation Material: Images, Animations
Compiles BIM Best Practices
Ensures projects document processes, procedures and workflows for lessons learned information
Researches Interoperability Management between BIM and design / engineering tools
Proactive approach and learning of new technology software
Drives Standards, processes procedures
Surveils project needs of integrating BIM and Information Technology
Ensures template project BIM execution plans adequately address project needs
Liaisons with Federal BIM projects and other Business Units’ BIM Directors
Understands BIM Industry Coordination / Collaboration practices
Understands Clash-Detection, Communication and resolution practices
Understands the issues with Multiple Design Models Coordination
Understands the BIM facility lifecycle.
Assists with leading BIM Coordination Meetings
Liaisons with BIM project staff in deploying project-template and surveilling projects applicability.
Occasional travel (20%) to project locations, as needed
BS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science or related field
5- 7 years of experience with BIM standards, procedures, libraries, for design applications
A minimum of 5 years of professional BIM use involving:
Model Element Authoring
Design Review Coordination/Collaboration
Integration of Design Analysis and Design Modeling
Working knowledge of design industry workflows, production cycle and priorities
Experience with multiple BIM/CAD roles: training and support and project team member
Exposure to Engineering Design Calculations or Analysis software and/or plant design software
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, to complete design assignments
Excellent written communication skills
Attention to detail
Position can be located in Washington DC or Centerville VA
