Join the team! Parsons is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer/Solutions Architect to join our ITS/Smart Mobility Group.

How would you like to be help build technology that manages city and regional transportation around the country? We are looking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer/Solutions Architect to be a part of our Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)/Smart Mobility team. Parsons’ Intelligent NETworks ™ (iNET) solution is an industry-leading smart-city and advanced transportation system (ATMS) software used to improve the management, efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and livability of our cities and communities. This role can be based anywhere in the United States.

Our iNET Software provides: Smart Mobility Capabilities - No matter the transportation system—freeway, highway, toll road, transit route, tunnel, arterial road, or other—iNET applies state-of-the-art operational solutions to enable smarter mobility and smarter cities overall. This includes interfacing with transportation devices, variables message signs, traffic signals, cameras, air quality monitoring sensors, smart lighting, and many other devices to monitor and respond to traffic anomalies and environmental changes. Data collected by iNET™ is also used for Big Data Analysis, ingesting, and processing large volumes of transportation and other smart-city data into a cloud- and/or premise-based big data environment. This solution includes integrated big data analytics tools to enable ad hoc reporting of the big data environment information.

In this team, you will function as a senior technical leader, designing and deploying state-of-the-art ITS and Smart Mobility solutions including Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), traffic signals, communications systems, ATMS, Integrated Corridor Management (ICM), Active Traffic Management (ATM), Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), data hubs, and other advanced transportation technologies. You will be expected to provide input on requirement analysis, design decisions and help drive the direction of the projects on which you work. This preferred candidate will be a strong communicator, comfortable in front of clients explaining solutions in a manner that is appropriate for the current audience and will be required to support proposal activities. Lastly, this individual is a driven self-starter who is ready to dive into the latest technologies and develop/modernize our product as well as support ongoing projects. This role will primarily serve customers in the eastern region of the US can be 100% remote in the US.


The successful candidate will Independently develop and/or supervise the development of advanced designs or technical procedures.


  • Serves as a technical consultant within ITS Group. Creates enhanced technical solutions to meet client and/or regulatory requirements and actively seeks improvements to work processes.

  • Researches, analyzes, and organizes statistics or other technical materials for specific applications.

  • Participates in business development activities, including proposal preparation and formal client presentations.

  • Keeps abreast of technological developments related to area of expertise.

  • Participates in one or more professional organizations.

  • May write and/or review articles written by others for publication in professional journals.

  • May perform in a technical leadership role, providing technical direction to others in the production of products or services to ensure that meet established project requirements.

  • May supervise or mentor one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.


Degree in related technical field and 12-15 years of broad and diversified technical experience within ITS. Professional Engineer registration or certification in field of expertise is a plus.


Proficiency in utilizing PC and various software applications related to field of expertise is required. Also requires expert knowledge of standard practices within field of expertise, as well as applicable codes and regulations. Must be highly proficient in use of communication technology and automation in order to achieve the highest level of productivity. Must demonstrate the ability to perform in a lead capacity, and possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, on technical and non-technical subjects.

This position pays a minimum annual salary of $92,200.00 and a maximum annual salary of $161,400.00.
