Are you interested in joining a team of experienced geophysicists working with cutting-edge technology, developing innovative approaches, and leading the industry in geophysical detection and classification on Military Munitions Response Projects? Parsons is now hiring a Senior Scientist (Geophysicist) for our rapidly expanding geophysics team.
Under direction of a project geophysicist and project manager, a Senior Geophysicist performs a variety of independent geophysical data acquisition and processing assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of geophysical practices and techniques. The geophysicist's primary responsibilities at this level will be using geophysical and GPS equipment to conduct quality control tests and collect digital geophysical data to support remedial investigation or removal action projects at formerly used defense sites with potential unexploded ordnance contamination. The geophysicist will lead the field component of geophysical investigations and manage multiple geophysical data collection teams. In between field assignments, the geophysicist will process and interpret geophysical data and track QC and processing data in a Microsoft Access-format data base, as well as assist with preparing proposals, cost estimates, and reports, as needed. Performing a variety of field and office tasks requiring the application of complex scientific principles and fundamental theories
Providing technical leadership and guidance to lower-level Scientists and Technicians
Assisting with preparing proposals and cost estimates
Managing subcontractors on a field site
Managing tasks or projects of small or moderate scope and complexity involving his/her technical expertise
Assisting with equipment management and coordinate equipment repair
Acquiring EM61-MK2, G-858, MetalMapper2x2, MPV, and UltraTEM data
Processing EM61-MK2, G-858, MetalMapper2x2, and MPV data using Geosoft's Oasis Montaj software, and processing UltraTEM data using BT Field software
Interpreting geophysical data collected with the instruments listed above
Tracking QC information in a Microsoft Access-format data base
Performing field and office tasks requiring the application of geophysical principles and fundamental theories
Writing geophysics sections of work plans and reports for CERCLA RI and remediation projects
Performing anomaly reacquisition using EM61-MK2, G-858, and Real Time Kinematic GPS sensors
Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods and documenting test results
The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $64,000.00.Benefits for this position include: medical, dental, vision, paid time off, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401K.
