Sustain Operations Specialist-Remote

Target Market: Colorado Springs, CO.


This exciting position fills a critical role within our Security Operations Center (SOC). Work with a team of dedicated professionals supporting the needs of Network Defense Analysts and Engineers. Providing mission assurance through network defense, our team protects an enterprise network across the globe. The Security Operations group works hand in hand as a trusted partner with our Information Technology Department, Project teams, and our Business Development groups. The work location for this position is remote (telecommute).


A Sustain Operations Specialist is a results-driven technical security professional focused on supporting the documentation and data analytic efforts necessary to effectively operate the SOC. The Sustain Operations Specialist works directly with SOC analysts and engineers across multiple capability areas to obtain relevant technical information and transform the data into professional documentation. This role will primarily support the SOC team by authoring, editing, reviewing, and organizing security technical documentation including plans, procedures, trade studies, Incident Reports, and threat briefings. Additional responsibilities will include collecting, analyzing and interpreting data from a multitude of sources to provide business insight to the SOC's operations. A Sustain Operations Specialist supports ongoing communication with members of the SOC, the Security Operations team, and internal/external partner organizations. Must be extremely motivated with a service-oriented mindset and an absolute passion for supporting people, process, and technology. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter with a strong proficiency in security technical writing and a broad familiarity with network security and/or SOC operations.

Additional focus areas include gap analysis, technical trade studies, documentation review/edit/publishing, reporting, and threat briefings. Must be extremely motivated with a service-oriented mindset and an absolute passion for supporting, people, process and technology. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter with a strong understanding of network security teams and environments, operations initiatives, documentation/professional writing, management, and a general security background. While the SOC focuses primarily on defense of the corporate network, the team may contribute to the security initiatives of other Parsons network environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field

  • Mastery of English grammar, sentence structure, and formatting

  • Experience authoring, editing, reviewing, and maintaining critical technical documentation including deliverables such as reports, plans, playbooks, and procedures

  • Ability to translate complex security issues into language that is meaningful for non-security audiences

  • Experience in creating and delivering professional presentations for different audiences up to and including executive leadership

  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively both within the SECOPS team and with external organizations such as IT, partner security organizations and Law Enforcement

  • Desired understanding of core networking and security concepts, including defensive technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security

  • Data analytics experience gathering metrics and performing analysis to help identify trends and inform decision-making

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and PowerPoint

  • Security+ required within 6 months of hire; Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and/or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) highly desirable

  • Must be a US citizen and have or be able to obtain a government security clearance

The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $80,000.00.Benefits for this position include: medical, dental, vision, paid time off, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401K.
