Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a System Engineer to join our team in developing and enhancing a cutting-edge biosurveillance platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in system engineering, experience in agile development methodologies, and expertise in nowcasting models and forecasting techniques. As a System Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development of new features, improvement of nowcasting models, and the design of advanced forecasting techniques, ultimately contributing to the advancement of our biosurveillance platform.
What You'll Be Doing:
Participate in the development of new features and enhancements for the biosurveillance platform, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to agile development methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data input/outputs, metrics, and development storyboards for new features and improvements.
Create and improve nowcasting models to handle common real-world data defects, ensuring accurate and reliable predictions for biosurveillance efforts.
Develop and test novel inference methods for high-dimensional problems with applications to transmission model fitting, enhancing the platform's ability to analyze complex data.
Design and test improved forecasting ensembling techniques, incorporating cutting-edge methodologies to advance the platform's predictive capabilities.
Generate test data or access data through Data Use Agreements (DUAs) to validate new features and improvements, ensuring that they meet quality and performance standards.
Apply resources effectively to adapt technology to the biosurveillance platform, working closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in system engineering, with a focus on biosurveillance or related applications.
Proven experience in developing and enhancing software solutions using agile development methodologies.
Strong knowledge of nowcasting models, high-dimensional inference methods, and forecasting ensembling techniques.
Experience working with complex data sets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data input/outputs, metrics, and development storyboards.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team."

Salary Range:
$113,100.00 - $203,600.00
