Title: Documentation Specialist/Quality Management (QM) Specialist

Role(s) & Responsibilities

The Documentation & QM Specialist provides technical documentation support and documentation control for programmatic deliverables, including all Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) reports for a database development project. As the QM Specialist they will develop, monitor and help execute the project's Quality Management Plan. The QM Specialist analyzes and monitors business processes for complex studies to ensure continuous improvement that supports the program. The QM Specialist provides guidance and assists with making recommendation to management in implementing methodologies for documenting processes and continuous improvement within tasks and across projects. This includes creating guidance documentation, work process diagrams, standards, and forms, as well as developing and revising policies, processes, procedures, and other related documentation accurately.

Additional Quality Manager/Documentation Specialist responsibilities:

  • Plans and executes required audit activities (schedules, plans, reports, finding resolutions, etc.).

  • Collects and organizes information for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports

  • Maintains the project document library that contains all CDRLs and other significant project documentation

  • Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and document

  • Supports the PMO in any review or requests from the client on specific documentation questions

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience) and typically 6+ years of related work experience in the field of Quality and/or documentation.


Two years of experience in documentation and/or technical writing. Experience writing and executing Quality Management Plans on Information Technology projects.


  • Requires leadership potential and knowledge of Quality Management practices, processes and current technology.

  • Requires experience with CDRLs and associated deliverables.

  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly, conduct presentations to management and interface effectively with a diverse group of professionals.

  • Proficiency in analyzing situations in business terms, i.e. ROI, cost per unit, etc.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with other departments in a tactful and effective manner.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical, problem solving, and risk assessment skills. Ability to make public presentations.

  • Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Visio. Project Planning skills are essential.

  • Strong attention to detail.
