Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a sharp Geospatial Engineer with software development experience to join our LiDAR team. The Parsons LiDAR team has a long history of success supporting airborne mapping programs for our customer. Recent efforts have involved the optimization of processing algorithms, debugging and correction of hardware issues through software, and building production processing tools to generate quality product deliverables from raw data. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of imaging and sensor phenomenology, and can apply these concepts to optimize processing algorithms as new requirements arise.
In this role you will assist in the design and development of advanced LiDAR processing workflows, as well as provide sensor phenomenology subject matter expertise to assist in correcting hardware issues discovered in production. Responsibilities may range from 3D imagery algorithm development to 3D data visualization projects to standing up a solid backend distributed processing environment, depending on expertise and interest. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the software development cycle, from design to development to testing. The ideal candidate will have solid experience writing C/C++ software for geospatial applications. Specialization in LiDAR or similar remote sensing mapping technology is a major plus.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Experience working with LiDAR or similar 3D geospatial remote sensing data systems
Solid understanding of LiDAR/imaging sensor phenomenology
Experience with 3D algorithm development; preferably C/C++ Experience developing software for large-scale mapping technologies
Ability to work well independently
Masters degree in related field, or Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of related professional experience
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Experience working with geospatial and/or GIS mapping products
Experience performing analysis and manual QC on 3D data
Familiarity with LAS point cloud and GeoTIFF imagery formats
Experience on agile or agile-like development teams
Ability to work in both windows and linux environments
Familiarity JavaScript and any of Node JS, React JS, and Three JS frameworks is a plus
Experience supporting deployed airborne data collection platforms

Salary Range:
$92,200.00 - $161,400.00
