Parsons is now hiring a Landscape Designer/Drafter for our rapidly expandingtransportationsector.

Parsons’ extensive experience in this field combined with your knowledge and technical skills will propel your career forward. We need our Designers at this level to compile data, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalize them into working drawings and/or models.

In this role, under close supervision of a licensed Landscape Architect, you will perform landscape architectural drafting assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of landscape architectural design standards, practices, and techniques. This is a mid-level drafting position for an energetic, skilled and innovative drafter.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of assignments related but not limited to landscape architectural drafting.

Produces CAD drawings (base files and cut sheets), renderings, layouts, study models, and construction documents for specific and detailed landscape architectural design tasks from general and detailed design information in accordance with established standards, procedures, and client requirements.

Proficiency in drafting technical solutions and preparing full technical design drawing packages from concept design through design development, detailed design, issue for construction, tender and contract documentation.

Design drawing packages include detailed design drawings ready for construction including details for all built forms within the external works packages to be designed in coordination with the relevant design discplines and consultants prior to contract documentation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs a variety of assignments related but not limited to landscape architectural drafting.

Produces CAD drawings (base files and cut sheets), renderings, layouts, study models, and construction documents for specific and detailed landscape architectural design tasks from general and detailed design information in accordance with established standards, procedures, and client requirements.

Utilizes technical manuals to ensure compliance with required codes and standards.

Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design layouts which includes site conditions such as but not limited to landuse, site context, geographic location, soil, vegetation, and rock features, drainage, and location of structures for preparation of landscaping plans.

Researches design and product solutions and presents them for consideration.

Corrects drawings and specifications that have been red-lined by others.

Preparation of technical design packages through to tender.

Coordination with other relevant disciplines such as Civil Engineers (Roads, Traffic, Drainage, Utilities), Mechanical, Structural, Lighting and Electrical Engineers, Architects and design consultants.

Liaise with other drafters as well as landscape architects and engineers to achieve desired work outcome.

May inspect landscape architectural features on project sites and records conditions.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications :

  • Associate’s degree in TechnicalDrafting and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent).5-8 years of relevant experience.Professional proficiency in CAD(MicroStation and AutoCAD) and other PC software packages typically associatedwith landscape architectural design is also required (InDesign, Sketch Up, 3DStudio Max, PhotoShop). 3D graphic capabilities and software skills is anadvantage.Excellent communication skills -ability to communicate in graphic, verbal and written form of English. Teamplayer (working with those at various organizational levels). Take directionwell and implement changes as necessary. Ability to work in a fast paceddynamic environment. Strong desire to be the best and produce the best work.
