Parsons is now hiring a Fire Protection Engineer in the Charlotte, NC area to work on a wide variety of engineering tasks on large scale, complex projects located all over the world.

In this role you will: design unique and challenging projects and perform facilities assessments to make expert recommendations to clients for improvements and optimization.Engineers who have interest and/or experience in unique fire protection designs for facilities such as power plants, industrial facilities, mission critical facilities, data centers, manufacturing, testing and research laboratories would be successful in this role.


  • Design of new facilities

  • Upgrades/expansions of built facilities

  • Engineering studies and calculations

  • Scheduling

  • Developing standards

  • Plans and details

  • Writing specifications

  • Tracking change orders

  • Overseeing project implementation

  • Auditing facilities

  • Prepare and write reports detailing specific fire prevention and protection issues such as work performed and proposed review schedules.

  • Advise architects, builders, and other construction personnel on fire prevention equipment and techniques, and on fire code and standard interpretation and compliance.

  • Inspect buildings or building designs to determine fire protection system requirements and potential problems in areas such as water supplies, exit locations, and construction materials.

  • Design fire detection equipment, alarm systems, and fire extinguishing devices and systems.


  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8-10 years of related work experience.

  • Professional Engineer registration may be required.

  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
