Job Description:

Join our 50+ engineers in Downtown Chicago to provide design, and engineering assistance for the Parsons Infrastructure design group, an international civil engineering consulting firm specializing in transportation projects.

Our Parsons Chicago office is now hiring civil engineering interns to work with our transportation infrastructure practice for road and highway systems for our Summer 2024 program There is a preference for rising Junior or Senior level students, or graduate level, who have taken some basic core classes in civil engineering. This program begins in Early June 2024 for 10 weeks or more and allows for 40 hours of work weekly with excellent compensation. Please note that Parsons does not provide relocation or housing assistance. These are office-based roles, while some hybrid remote working may be allowed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist various teams specializing in Transportation, Roadway Design, Traffic Analysis, Drainage, Bus Rapid Transit, and Rail

  • Create and edit project cross sections, profiles, and typical sections

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for highway projects to create specific construction estimates

  • Support production of plans and project layouts using MicroStation and AutoCAD

  • LEARN & GROW in a collaborative engineering environment

Preferred Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Prior course work in Transportation or Highway Design is essential

  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Civil Engineering

  • Rising Junior or Senior level students preferred, or in a Master's Degree program.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of an engineering team and take direction

  • Use proper resources to problem solve

  • AutoCAD and MicroStation (experience not required, training is provided)

  • Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Salary Range:

$21.44 - $37.55
