Would you enjoy working closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design? Parsons is now hiring a Project Structural Designer for our Chicago office.
In this role you will serve as Lead Designer for all phases of a project. Provide technical guidance to project design and drafting personnel in the preparation of contract plans. Project Designers draw upon diversified design experience to lead lower-level Designers and Drafters in completing the most difficult and complex design assignments, generally utilizing either 2D or 3D CAD methods.
Coordinates execution of work assignments with respect to design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet client scope of work requirements. Provides manpower estimates as required.
Provides technical guidance to project design team in completing the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a bridge project. Assignments can involve design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents and require anticipation of problems at the outset in order to provide appropriate solutions.
Ensures compliance withclient requirements and company standards.
Coordinate drawing information between disciplinesto ensure a consistent and compatible design.
Provides direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the accuracy of the drawings produced. Participates in checking orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others.
Understands and applies commonly used company design standards and methods. Provides input to the establishment or revision of guidelines and standards.
Collaborates with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.
Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.
May train lower-level Designers in various procedures.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred
10+ years of relevant experience
Job leadership experience would be helpful
Requirements include strong PC and CAD skills, as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software to complete design assignments.
