Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a subsidiary of Parsons supporting the NRL, has an immediate full-time opening for a Software Developer/Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO. This is a remote opportunity for candidates that reside within a commutable distance of the designated work and customer locations to allow onsite visits as necessary. The qualified candidate will work in unison with the NRL in support of the Neptune program to provide practical, state of the art solutions to complex communications, command, control, and intelligence applications; as well as to design, implement, test and validate software used to command and control satellites (C2) and payloads on orbit. Other essential functions of this role include:

  • Develop software using C/C++ in a RHEL Linux environment

  • Troubleshoot and report software anomalies

  • Apply agile development practices and techniques to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant field of study (will consider an equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience in lieu of full degree)

  • 5+ years of software engineering/development experience to include a working knowledge of C/C++ or other programming language and computer science principles

  • Proficiency developing and testing software in a Linux environment

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Programming languages such as Java and Go

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, Python, PERL, etc.)

  • Software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)

  • Microservices architecture

  • Container technologies.(Kubernetes/Docker/Podman)

  • Web technologies (examples: HTML, CSS, React, REST, JSON, WildFly, etc.)

This position pays a minimum annual salary of $79,100.00 and a maximum annual salary of $138,400.00.

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
