Job Description:

Are you excited by the idea of building foundational cyber solutions empowering our customer’s development of powerful operational capabilities? Are you motivated by the challenges presented by engineering, designing, developing, documenting, and implementing foundational tools and libraries integral to mission success against sophisticated cyber adversaries? In an increasingly contested cyberspace, a well-stocked cyber armory of foundational tools and libraries is vital to rapid development of mission capabilities. As the Chief Software Engineer, you will collaborate directly with our customer and lead our software engineering team ensuring the foundational solutions are designed, built, and delivered with a high-level of craftmanship, interface simplicity for basic developers, and configurability for intricate use by master developers.

We have an opportunity for you to use your leadership, development experience, analytical skills, and cyber operator training to improve Parsons’ delivery to our clients. You’ll lead geographically distributed team. You will ensure project completion and provide guidance and direction to the various product teams and project management. You’ll provide expertise in the engineering design, development, direction, and implementation of foundational tools and libraries. You will apply familiarity with the utilization, configuration, and implementation of cyber offensive and defense capabilities, including network protocols, tunnels, cryptography, exploitation, security capabilities, security practices, cyber tradecraft, and infrastructure. Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Chief Software Engineer to join our team! In this role you'll be challenged in a way that will keep you on the cutting edge of cyber development. Parsons works on top level cyber development projects for national defense programs - imagine the possibilities to make an impact. We have opportunities in Centreville, VA; Herndon, VA; Columbia, MD; Augusta, GA; with hybrid options available.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead a remote distributed team in support of US Government CNO missions

  • Capture and refine requirements from user groups

  • Decompose requirements and writing user stories with acceptance criteria

  • Develop product roadmaps and managing product backlogs

  • Schedule releases and scoping product MVPs

  • Generate accurate documentation for developed software

  • Review system architecture, and select and implement appropriate development and support tools to ensure product performance, as well as test and debug related software

  • Provide our customers expertise to leverage their existing software and create new capabilities

  • Be involved in quick reaction development with opportunities for customer interaction

  • Collaborate with a team that is focused on developing superior products and encouraging the career growth of its members

  • Be a customer focused self-starter, eager to learn as well as mentor and excel at collaborating in Agile teams

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 10 years Software Engineering experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with experience in Malware development

  • TS/SCI security clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam

  • C/C++ proficiency

  • Strong Linux / Windows foundation/knowledge

  • Familiarity with Git

  • Ability to travel; anticipated travel level: once a quarter

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • USCC Cyber Operations experience

  • Commuting distance (within 50 miles) to a Parsons office in Centreville, VA; Herndon, VA; Columbia, MD; or Augusta, GA

  • Python proficiency

  • Assembly programming and analysis (of any major architecture)

  • Experience working with debuggers and disassemblers

  • Strong understanding of low-level operating system internals and drivers

  • Experience with both kernel and userland debugging

  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux APIs (POSIX, win32, Windows Native)

  • Experience with networking protocol analysis and socket programming (Windows and/or Linux)

  • Familiarity with modern development environments and practices including CI/CD

  • Experience with privileged and elevated access to cybersecurity tools

  • Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including using presentation expertise to convey complex ideas to client and internal staff

Salary Range:

$136,200.00 - $245,200.00
