In this role:Associate Civil Engineers will perform a variety of engineering duties by applying basic engineering techniques and analyses. The Engineer at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices, and gaining exposure to Parsons Company procedures. You might be assigned to a structured rotational program which could include several disciplines in Engineering including roadway geometry and roadside features, hydrology and hydraulics, utility design, construction phasing and signing, and construction inspection. The initial phase of work is focused around construction documentation and inspection in our roadway highway division. Office assignments will involve CAD (computer aided design) applications with an emphasis on Microstation. Autocad training is accepted as well. Inspection assignments may be in one of the following areas: soils, pavements (concrete and/or asphalt), drainage, utilities, structures (bridges and retaining walls), traffic control, erosion control, street lighting or traffic signals. This role will include frequent travel to various Colorado DOT or other local agency field sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will perform various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories of civil engineering. There will also be opportunity to work in multiple disciplinary positions including design of roadway, drainage, utility, phasing, signing, and striping elements.

Initial emphasis of this role is to perform various construction inspection tasks requiring review and interpretation of final engineering drawings and specifications, measuring and tracking of as-built quantities, preparation of daily work reports and numerous other documents, and general project assistance. An ability to interact with Contractors and Owners is a must as well as ability to work on construction sites throughout the state. Travel to site locations is expected, position may require night and weekend shifts

  • Performs various construction inspection tasks requiring review and interpretation of final engineering drawings and specifications, measuring and tracking of as-built quantities, preparation of daily work reports and numerous other documents, and general project assistance.

  • Ability to interact with Contractors and Owners is a must as well as ability to work on construction sites throughout the state.

  • Prepares or assists in preparing fundamental engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys and designs.

  • Under the guidance of a more senior engineer, assists in reviewing supplier drawing submittals and technical bid analyses.

  • Assists in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

  • Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field)

  • 0-2years of related work experience

  • In addition, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred

  • Continued work toward earning a Professional Engineering (PE) license is expected

  • Requires basic process engineering knowledge, as well as a working knowledge of CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
