DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The GIS Specialist will assist in the coordination of Geographical Information System and Parcelization activities that contribute to the Master Planning of the Lusail City District. Discover patterns and trends through Spatial Mapping, developing mapping applications and tolls and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.
Assist in developing the broad understanding about GIS systems, customized applications and GIS related agencies in Qatar
Analyze existing land use patterns and evaluate how best to align this with proposed land use
Analyze spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets
Discover patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data
Assist in establishing an appropriate Geographical Information System (GIS) that best meets the City district's needs
Update the comprehensive GIS database for the City district Master Plan
Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations
Prepare land map layouts and associated updates to recommend measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities and transportation to control and guide the Future development of Lusail
Provide support / input to other disciplines, as appropriate (i.e. landscape, infrastructure, urban design)
Ensure knowledge transfer of City developments and other private developers' projects
Coordinate with Ministry of Municipality & Environment (MME) to confirm GIS system accuracy and Urban Planning updates that need to be incorporated into the GIS system
Liaise with related Government institutions (i.e. MME, KAHRAMAA, ASHGHAL, QP, GSDP, Q22), as and when required
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Management, Survey Science, Information Technology.
3+ years of practical experience in establishing and running GIS systems for Local and / or State Governments in Qatar.
Ability to use modern computer-based Geospatial Design tools and GIS software.
Proficiency in GIS software applications and programming is required. Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of industry practices.
Experience in Qatar or GCC will be preferred
