Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Roads, Infra | Dubai, UAE

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Completes a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performscomplex electrical and lighting engineering tasks and particularly importantengineering work efficiently and accurately.

  • Extractsengineering information from CAD drawings.

  • Preparesengineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, anddesigns.

  • Completes a variety of assignments suchas drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement andconstruction purposes. Frequentlyinterfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

  • Preparesdetailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

  • Reviewssupplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.

  • Prepares andissues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

  • Provides technical guidance to CADDesigner/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the sameproject.

  • May be required to provide the seal andsignature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliancewith all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

  • May act in anadvisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering relatedmatters.

  • Performsother responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

  • Shallbe proficient in preparing Electrical HV, LV Designs, Lighting Designs forIndoor, Outdoor applications using Dialux, and AGI32 software.

  • Shallbe experienced in Power cable sizing calculations using software such asAmtech.

  • Shallbe experienced in carrying out electrical Load analysis and Short circuitcalculations using ETAP software, Cable derating calculations using Cymcap /Similar software.

  • Shallhave experience in the ELV Systems such as CCTV, Access Control, ParkingManagement, BMS, SCADA.

  • Shallhave experience of designing Fire alarm and Life safety systems.

  • Shallhave experience of preparing detailed technical, commercial and Life Cycle CostAnalysis of various technical alternatives and presenting them in a report andmaking presentations to the Clients.

  • Shallbe fully conversant with the IEC, IEEE as well as DEWA regulations for theelectrical designs.

  • Shallhave experience of liaising with DEWA for obtaining Load NOCs, LV DesignApprovals, HV Design Approvals, as well as complete project Load estimationsfor large development projects involving 132 KV Primary Substations, 11 KVSubstations, etc.

  • Approvalfrom DM / RTA would be added advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

4-year degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and minimum 12-15 years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration may be required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Proficiency in utilizing Microstation, AutoCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with electrical and lighting engineering is required.
