Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Architect SUI Lead to join our team! In this role you will get to be the technical point of reference for Structural/Architectural related concerns throughout the design, construction, testing, commissioning and close-out phases of the Edmonton Valley Line West (EVLW) LRT project.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Communicate across various teams involved in design, construction, testing, commissioning and close-out, and ensure that delivery is achieved within acceptable quality, cost and schedule parameters.

  • Take proactive action to support project teams achieve their goals.

  • Understand the activity of the various project teams, identify and manage risks, and ensure good technical governance are followed.

  • Ensure for all projects at the commencement of each state that full briefing documentation have been received and reviewed for completeness and handovers have been conducted in relevant area of scope.

  • Provide technical leadership and support to engineering teams undertaking all packages of structural engineering analysis and design to required quality and industry best practise including the preparation of design documents, including calculation packages, reports, presentation and specifications.

  • Support project leads in the leadership of technical interfaces and coordination or design within the discipline and multidisciplinary technical interfaces across disciplines at a project level.

  • Interface between design and construction to manage and resolve issues from inception to closure and ensure that any deviations are addressed appropriately to maintain the project risk profile and technical compliance with project requirements.

  • Understand design review and approval requirements and participate in record drawing and assist others with construction certification and assembly of turn-over records as construction is progressed.

  • Responsible for ensuring technical quality is consistently achieved through regular monitoring and review of work by others or under their supervision including reviewing design work carried out by members of the team in line with project specific requirements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships built in trust within the discipline, across the teams and with the client as required.

  • Attend design team meetings, briefing sessions, and project reviews as required by project.

  • Lead risk management through project ensuring that both technical and commercial risks are identified and mitigation strategies put in place and agreed to as necessary.

  • Frequent site visits and documentation, communication and follow up with all stakeholders.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Recognized degree in Engineering or related discipline (i.e. Structural, Architectural,)

  • Minimum ten years professional experience, with delivery on public infrastructure megaprojects and client interface a definite assetDemonstrable technical knowledge of engineering of building-type projects, with particular reference to structural integrityWorking knowledge of relevant structural design and construction software.

  • Proven experience in the development of structural concepts and schemes for various building typologies and forms.

  • Proven track record in leading teams of people.

  • Technical knowledge and experience of Alberta regulations for design codes/ standards and statutory regulations.

  • Experience in collaborative working and coordination within the team, internal disciplines and external consultants and clients
