Job Description:

We have transformed over 100,000 miles of roads and highways all over the world and have been a leader in both conventional and Integrated design and delivery of civil infrastructure in Canada since 1964. We are looking for a subject matter expert in transportation planning and traffic design for construction, with significant experience in Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design, for the upcoming Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project, as well as support for other major construction projects in Western Canada. We offer the opportunity for you to work remotely from home, with the expectation that you will travel to project sites and other Parsons' offices as necessary.

The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km long line extension of the soon to be in service Valley Line in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The scope of work generally includes complex staging; new facilities such as stations, OMSF, storage facility, and stops; elevated guideway; new structures; systems and communications installation; trackwork; testing and commissioning; and all other civil works associated with the scope. It is the first LRT extension project using low-floor vehicle technology in Western Canada and will be a landmark LRT endeavor after the 5-year construction term. The unique project challenges, such as cold weather climate and integration with an in-service LRT line, offers team members future career opportunities in the robust transit portfolio of the City of Edmonton and other similar programs across Canada.

We look for engineers with a strong background in construction traffic control, traffic detailed design and transportation planning who have a passion to improve the safety and capacity of the existing road and highway network around the region. We expect you to effectively plan, coordinate and mentor engineering and designer resources to execute MOT plans and provide recommendations for traffic handling for new road/highway designs, and what measures will need to be in place to minimize congestion during construction phases.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design of major design/construction projects. Develop engineering scopes of work as well as providing technical guidance to the team, including subcontractors, so that we meet client expectations, deliverables and contractual obligations.
