Job Description:
The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km extension of the soon to be in service Valley Line in Edmonton, Alberta. This Joint Venture project is seeking a Subcontracts Manager.
The role is site based and will require relocation for candidates not already living in Edmonton.
The Subcontracts Manager will report to the Commercial Director and will manage all aspects of the administration of the project subcontract portfolio.
Essential:
10+ years of subcontract administration, coordination and/or management experience
Significant experience with Subcontract formation
Experience with bid evaluation
Experience working within the Construction-side organization of a large Infrastructure project
Experience working with various Infrastructure contract models P3, Design-Build-Finance, etc.
Ability to work in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (this position is not remote or rotationally based)
Preferred
Subcontract administration experience within a Joint Venture project structure
Administration of third-party Design Agreements
Previous LRT project experience
Experience using JD Edwards and Aconex
Procurement experience with the preparation of RFQs, RFPs, conduct of Bid Evaluations, etc.
Responsibilities:
Work with procurement, design, technical and construction teams to draft and execute subcontracts using project templates.
Chair the weekly Subcontracts Status Meeting
Supervise and mentor a team of subcontract administrators
Promote subcontract awareness across the project
Compile subcontract reports as required by the Commercial Director in support of:
Project-level reporting
Executive Committee reporting
JV Party reporting
Maintain records of subcontractor claims and off-sets for project forecasting
Prepare and provide monthly subcontract accruals and forecasts to Cost Control/Accounting/Finance
Draft and administer subcontract correspondence using Aconex
Monitor notice and response timelines to ensure compliance

Ability to work and strategize independently
Comfortable with working in the project office and various field offices as required
Organized with the ability to see tasks through to completion on fixed deadlines
Strong communicator both written and verbal
High level of verbal and written communication skills
Ability to chair meetings, and facilitate efficient and effective discussions and decision-making
Strong attention to detail while retaining the ability to see the bigger picture
Work well with project stakeholders across all levels of the project’s organizational structure
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field and typically 3+ years of contract administration experience is required.
