Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Custodian to join our team! In this role you will get to support the Faro Mine Remediation Project.

Qualified local candidates, candidates willing to relocate to Faro or those who are available on a 2-week fly-in/fly-out rotational basis are encouraged to apply.

This position begins on a Temporary Fixed-Term basis with the potential to move to a regular, full-time role in the future, based on performance and workload.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • The Custodian cleans and keeps working areas, washrooms, and premises of an office orderly.

  • Duties involve a combination of the following: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors.

  • Removing trash and other refuse.

  • Dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures.

  • Polishing metal fixtures or trimmings.

  • Managing supplies.

  • Cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.

  • Duties may include the removal of debris in and around the facilities.

  • Work 10-hour shifts as scheduled, in mostly indoor environments.

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times.

  • Attend training sessions as required.

  • Complete Health and Safety (H&S) training related to on-site policies and company requirements and adhere to requirements while performing work.

  • Complete chemical handling training and adhere to requirements while performing work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in first aid training.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Punctuality and reliability

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3+ years of experience.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg.

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.

  • Proven ability to concentrate, pay attention to detail, organize, priority set and be a team player.

  • Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and function in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Willingness to work in a remote northern community.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment.

  • Willingness to resolve issues in a professional manner.

  • Willingness to take initiative and be self-motivated.

  • Willingness to accept accountability for tasks assigned and ask for clarification if information is unclear.

  • Understanding of time management.

  • Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the role, which include lifting, pulling, standing, or crouching for extended periods.

  • Capable of the safe handling of chemicals.

  • Able to adapt to change.
