POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Operations Manager is an on-site, supervisory position assisting with the direction of the operational and technical aspects of the overall operation of groundwater treatment remediation systems. Performs most difficult and/or complex facilities maintenance assignments within a building complex. Provides technical guidance to lower-level Facilities Technicians and Subcontractors. Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity. Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity. May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Must be able to work on weekends, some holidays, and after hours occasionally.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Works under the direction of the Project Manager.
Responsible for all operation and maintenance (O&M) site operations.
Prepares the Monthly Operations Report (MOR) with assistance from the project hydrologist and other O&M staff.
Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the remedial groundwater treatment systems.
Maintains all O&M records, manuals, and statements of work (SOWs).
Responsible for the purchases of all materials and supplies required for the day-to-day O&M of the treatment plants.
Serves as backup to the System Operators as needed.
Must be available by phone 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week for responses or interruptions to plant operations and may require on-site responses during non-shift hours.
Supports Project Manager during project meetings and preparation of meeting minutes.
Makes work assignments and provides technical guidance to lower-level Facilities Technicians.
Participate as a member of the emergency response team for earthquake and fire drills.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Enforce building rules and safety policies with all building occupants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Chemical engineering and/or Industrial Wastewater Treatment System license (minimum N-3 required).
Ten (10) years of documented groundwater remediation system experience. Experience must include responsibility for the operation of a minimum of five (5) hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste (HTRW) remedial action systems in excess of $1 million estimated construction costs per site or $750,000 annual operating expenses. Must have experience in the evaluation of remedial system requirements specifically soil and groundwater treatment systems.
40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher training.
Demonstrated proficiency in general building trades skills, the ability to read simple blueprints, as well as a willingness and ability to be on-call for after hours emergencies is required. Good verbal communication skills are required to clearly deliver work instructions.
