Parsons serves as lead designer for California High Speed Rail design-build project CP-1 project which is the initial 29-mile-long alignment in the Central Valley, beginning in Madera and ending just south of Fresno. It is predominantly a civil infrastructure project that includes grade separations, aerial viaduct structures, a major river crossing over the San Joaquin River, and 2.7 miles of trench

Position Overview:

Under direction of a degreed engineer, performs a variety of basic to moderately-difficult engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.


  • Assist Engineering Team with submittal processing, internal design review processing, compiling design related Ready For Construction (RFC) documents for distribution to the construction team via BlueBeam, may include delivery of design submittals to 3rd party offices.

  • Assist Project Engineering/Project Management staff with tasks such as preparation of weekly and monthly design reports, Change Notice/Change Order preparation and record keeping, preparation of design directives/procedures, facilitating multi-office collaboration meetings (via WebEx, sign in sheet, agenda hardcopies, etc. for meetings where host is not present in Fresno), assist with internal meetings (minutes, invitations, exhibit/materials prep, etc.)

  • Support the Fresno based design team with tasks such as utilizing a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, etc., from rough sketches and/or from redline markups .

  • Utilizes HSR13-06 (CP-01) executed contract documents, technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with executed contract, codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various transportation and public works infrastructure standards and codes.


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering is required.

  • Zero to three (3) years' experience directly supporting an active construction project, preferably civil, highway related.

  • EIT is preferred

  • Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam software or other PDF programs.
