We are actively looking for aGroundwater Treatment System Operator on a full-time basis for our client in the Front Royal Virginia area.

In this role you willfunction as the biological treatment system assistant operator, generally working day shift, for a nominal 125 gallon per minute groundwater recovery and treatment system. The treatment system will employ a number of physical/chemical and biological treatment unit operations including: metals precipitation, moving bed bio-reactors (MBBR), sequencing batch reactors (SBR), gravity settling, air stripping, granular activated carbon adsorption, and sludge by filter press. As an assistant operator, employee will work closely with lead operator to ensure proper function of the system,

Daily operation of biological water treatment facilities includes operation of the pumping and controls equipment, calibration of metering and monitoring equipment, and performance of basic field laboratory tests.

Collects samples and maintains documentation in record logs. Performs routine laboratory analytical testing associated with day-to-day operation/optimization of the treatment process.

Tests, calibrates, repairs, and modifies control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations or supervises other staff performing such duties. Assignments are undertaken independently on a regular basis.

Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings. Initiates basic reports and/or establishes and maintains logs and records. Develops discharge monitoring reports for signature by others.

Requirements:

Either HS diploma and 5-10 years of experience or 2 year degree and 4-6 years experience in the operation of water, wastewater, or groundwater treatment systems or related process systems involving biological and physical chemical treatment.

Experience with the operation and maintenance of chemical addition systems including acid, caustic, nitrate, ferric chloride, and polymer is a plus.

Experience with the operation and troubleshooting of standard wastewater biological and physical chemical unit operations including: reactors, pumping systems, mixing systems, clarification systems, sludge transfer, granular activated carbon adsorption, and bag filtration is a plus.

Knowledge of automated control systems and SCADA is a plus. Experience with treatment system start-up is a plus.

Minimum High School diploma, or 2 year degreepreferred

Completion of a 40-hour Hazwoper OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update- current preferred, expired acceptable) ispreferred for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations.

Driver’s license in good standing and vehicle.

Must have good mechanical aptitude and the ability to provide basic directed trouble shooting of pumping and treatment equipment. Experience with electrical systems is an asset. Basic computer skills and experience with email and Microsoft office applications (Word/Excel). Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work under inclement weather conditions.
