Work to be performed on the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Parsons’ contract includes facilities engineering, construction and technical services. The Construction Specialist position is part of Parsons Construction Management team that delivers numerous construction Task Orders for the NASA Facility Management Division. You will manage a project from cradle to grave by working with the client, design team, construction team, and subcontractors to ensure the project meets all requirements including cost, schedule, and quality.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Meet with client to understand and clarify scope.

  • Consult with the design team on the project requirements and perform constructability reviews.

  • Review drawings for cost and schedule.

  • Manage the construction of a project, including safety, quality, and schedule.

  • Create Scope of Work documents for subcontract bid packages.

  • Initiate RFIs and material submittals including review of subcontractor submittals.

  • Initiate egress closure plans, traffic control plans, utility outage requests.

  • Perform subcontractor managementand coordination of in-house work teams for assigned projects.

  • Lead and or participate in project specific safe work planning discussions and formalized AHA process.

  • Meet on a daily basis with the client to ensure project viability

  • Manage 10+ concurrent Task Order projects at once.

  • Influence subcontractor safety culture daily to align with Parsons Safety Practices

Other responsibilities may likely include :

  • Assisting the Construction Manager with numerous project schedules.

  • Attending various NASA management meetings.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience, as well as 5 to 8 years of experience in field construction is required.

  • 3-5 years of related work experience (preferably experience with building renovations, including building infrastructure, office space, and lab/technical space).

  • Must have experience and working knowledge of HVAC and building mechanical systems. Work will involve scope development, research and analysis, and supervision of work for chillers, boilers, AHU’s, CRAC units, piping systems, etc...

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project CPM scheduling.

  • Must have a solid understanding of vertical construction.

  • Must have strong experience and be proficient using Microsoft Office software, specifically Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.

  • Must have excellent teamwork and customer relationship skills.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices. Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the potential for performing in a lead capacity on a project.
