Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring for an experienced Piping Designer to provide design and drafting services for our industrial capital projects group to work on piping designs for large infrastructure projects in the oil, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. This role is up to 100% virtual. Willingness to travel to client, supplier, or construction site locations is expected.


  • 2D and 3D Process piping and equipment arrangement plans

  • Developing P&IDs and schematic diagrams

  • Creating piping ISOs from 3D piping designs

  • Develop and coordinate Project CAD Procedures

  • Checking and approving design deliverable drawings

  • Review contractor's project submittals

  • Coordinate project design deliverables with engineering team and other designers to meet project schedules

  • Field visits to projects sites, walkdown sites to identify existing and proposed modification design changes

  • Industrial facilities plant modifications, industrial wastewater treatment system designs and demolition designs and support to environmental remedial design projects


  • 2D and 3D Autodesk based CAD skills with over 8 years experience

  • 3D piping and equipment design experience with AutoCAD Plant3D

  • Process Piping Design to ASME B31.3 code requirements

  • Facility plant piping and mechanical systems design to ASME B31.9 Code requirements

  • CAD coordination and management skills

  • Coordinating 3D designs with multi-discipline teams to create full process facility designs, including clash detection using tools such as NavisWorks

  • Incorporating 3D laser scans of existing systems into piping designs

  • Job site field experience, ability to detail proposed designs

  • Piping and Mechanical systems design with Revit software is a plus


  • A 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent work experience) is preferred, and typically 8 + years of related experience

  • Experience in a lead role is preferred

Salary Range:

$32.88 - $68.56
