Parsons Corporation Mechanical & Structural Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama
Parsons is seeking an Aero-Mechanical Structural Engineer and Analyst to support Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures development programs. Primary duties will include providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support for monitoring, reviewing and evaluating MDA prime contractor structural design, test and analysis for the development of target systems. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge and skills in missile system structures, loads and stress analysis to review, evaluate and critique missile contractor design approaches and analysis assumptions and results. This position will support any of the MDA target programs as required.
Provide input to the Government program plans and technical requirements regarding missile structures design, analysis and test
Review prime contractor designs, analyses and plans for testing to ensure sound technical approaches and compliance with contract requirements
Identify and contribute to the resolution of structural design/analysis issues, problems and risks
Review data requirements, analyses and test methodologies
Assess manufacturing and producibility plans
Review structural test plans/procedures, monitor testing and review test reports
Generate technical briefings and decision packages
Provide status reports of activities
Represent the interests of the customer in Working Groups, forums, Technical Interchange Meetings and Failure Review Boards
Review and evaluate prime contractor objective evidence provided in support of major milestone reviews, i.e., SRRs, PDRs and CDRs.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace or other) and 15+ years related experience with missile and space component and/or vehicle structural design, analysis, test and evaluation.
Position requires an active Secret security clearance pre-start.
Demonstrated experience with aerodynamic and structural loads and stress analysis
Familiarity of standard structural design practices for missile and space flight vehicles
Dynamic analysis (vibration, shock, acceleration)
Development and Qualification testing
Working knowledge of modeling tools such as CAD, CREO and NX
Familiarity with structural material properties
Familiarity with engineering drawing processes and geometric tolerance practices
Familiarity with MDA and system engineering processes is desired
Technical proposal development and evaluation
Development and delivery of presentations to peers and/or management
Proficiency with Microsoft tools (e.g. MS Word, Project, PowerPoint)
Ability to begin performing with minimal supervision
Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
